PROFILE
Since Ryo Kambayashi took his PhD at the Graduate School of Economics of the University of Tokyo in 2000, he has widely engaged in the empirical research on the mechanism of Japanese Labor Markets. His recent researches concern on the transition of the Japanese Labor Markets since 1980s, in terms of the long-term employment, wage differentials, and the duality between standard and non-standard employments. Some of his researches are related to the economic interpretation of legal institution such as the dismissal regulation; and he also has looked at the historical development of labor markets since the Industrial Revolution; namely, 1890s. After published these researches on the journals, e.g. Labour Economics, Industrial Labor Relations Review, Journal of Law and Economics, he summarized the findings into a Japanese book, Seiki-no Sekai, Hiseiki-no Sekai (Standard World, Non-Standard World), in 2017 from Keio Gijyuku Daigaku Shuppan and got the 58th Mainichi Economist Prize.
