PROFILE
Akihiko Matsui is Professor of Economics at the University of Tokyo. He is a fellow and a former council member of the Econometric Society. He also served as the President of the Japanese Economic Association (JEA) in 2016–2017. Professor Matsui obtained his Ph.D. at Northwestern University and held positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Tsukuba. His fields of study include game theory, monetary economics, and studies on economy and disability. Professor Matsui has published papers in Econometrica, Economic Theory, Experimental Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, International Economic Review, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Japanese Economic Review, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of the Japanese and International Economies, Journal of Public Economic Theory, Mathematical Social Sciences, Review of Economic Design, The Review of Economic Studies, and others. He is a previous recipient of the Nikkei Book Award, the Nakahara Prize of JEA, the JSPS Prize, and the Japan Academy Medal.
