PROFILE
Born 9 May 1934. Attended Seoul National University and received BA in Philosophy from Emory University, and then MA and PhD in Political Science from Yale University. Lee Hong Koo is chairman of The Seoul Forum for International Affairs in Korea. He was the prime minister of South Korea from 1994-1995 under former President Kim Young-Sam. Before that Dr. Lee served twice as the deputy prime minister for unification dealing with the relation between the divided two Korean states. He was also a member of the Korean National Assembly and the chairman of then ruling New Korea Party. Dr. Lee was the Korean ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1991-1993 and to the United States from 1998-2000. Dr. Lee is a Professor emeritus at Seoul National University.
