PROFILE
Shogo Kudo is Assistant Professor at Graduate Program in Sustainability Science ? Global Leadership Initiatives, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo. He holds a Ph.D. in Sustainability Science and specializes in rural sustainability in the context of aging and shrinking society. His main research interest is on community development, especially in-migration and entrepreneurship, in rural regions of Japan and South Africa. His recent research project aims to develop “translocal learning” approach that facilitates social learning for community development across cases from different localities. One of the core activities of the project is joint-fieldwork by a group of researchers from diverse academic backgrounds in Akita, Japan, on the theme of rural entrepreneurship. Through this activity, the translocal learning project supports the local community to envision and design a sustainable rural community in the time of aging and shrinking society. He is also active in promoting sustainability science in higher education through teaching several sustainability-focused courses in both graduate and undergraduate levels.
