KIM Byung-Yeon

KIM Byung-Yeon is Distinguished Professor in the Department of Economics at Seoul National University (SNU). His primary research focuses on applied economics, especially transition economics. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from SNU, and a D.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford. He has published extensively in international journals and authored numerous books and book chapters on (former) socialist economies, including North Korea. His book Unveiling the North Korean Economy (Cambridge University Press, 2017) is regarded as a leading work in the field. He is the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the National Academy of Sciences Academic Award and Inchon Award.
