PROFILE
Masahiko ABE (1966–) is a professor of English at the University of Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. His publications include “On Slow Motion”, “Staring and Literature”, “Discovering Poetry”, “Politeness and English Literature”, “Talking Like Children Helps”, “People Dancing to the Music of Paperwork” and “Fathers: A Chronicle of Wartime Classmates”. He won the Waseda Bungaku Newcomer’s Prize in 1998 and Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities in 2013.
