PROFILE
Dr Makoto Yokohari is professor at the Department of Urban Engineering and the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science (GPSS), The University of Tokyo. His academic interests include urban planning, landscape planning and landscape ecology. Dr. Yokohari’s professional career includes Research fellow at the National Institute of Agro-Environmental Sciences (1986 to 1998), Visiting Scholar at University of Guelph, Canada (1992 to 1993), Associate Professor at University of Tsukuba (1998 to 2004), Professor at University of Tsukuba (2004 to 2006) and Visiting Scholar at University of Copenhagen (2015). His career as a technical advisor includes National Capital Region Planning Committee, EXPO2005 Planning Committee, 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Planning Committee, and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Planning Committee of Tokyo. Dr. Yokohari was the President of City Planning Institute of Japan (2016 to 2018) and the President of Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture (2017 to 2019).
