PROFILE
Dr. Takashi Mino is currently Professor at Graduate School of Frontier Science (GSFS), The University of Tokyo. He obtained bachelor, Master’s and PhD degrees in 1978, 1980 and 1983, respectively from Department of Urban Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, The University of Tokyo (UTokyo). After getting PhD Degree, he worked as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in Department of Urban Engineering, UTokyo, before he was appointed to the present position in 1999. During this period, he also worked at Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand) as Associate Professor (1989-91), Delft University of Technology (Netherland) as visiting researcher (1995-96), and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) as Visiting Professor (2002-04). He served as Dean of GSFS for the period of April 2015 – March 2017. Educated as wastewater engineer, Professor Takashi Mino has been interested in microbiological ecology in biological wastewater treatment systems and its technological applications, especially study on biological phosphate removal from wastewater and mathematical modeling of biological wastewater treatment processes. His recent interests as well as responsibilities include the development of pedagogy and curriculum for sustainability education at higher education levels. He devoted himself to design and operate an international and trans-disciplinary Master’s and PhD degree program, “Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI)”, and has been serving as Coordinator of GPSS-GLI (2007-present).
