Ulrike Felt

Ulrike Felt has joined the University of Vienna as Professor of Science and Technology Studies (STS) in 1999. She is head of the STS Department and of interfaculty research platform “Responsible Research and Innovation in Academic Practice”. She has earned her PhD in Physics in 1983 and her habilitation in STS in 1997. Her research focuses on shifting research/knowledge/technology cultures and related institutional transformations as well as questions of governance and public participation in contemporary technoscientific democracies. She is engaged in policy advice both on national and European level. She was editor-in-chief of the SSCI ranked journal Science, Technology, & Human Values (2002-2007) and of the Handbook of Science and Technology Studies (MIT Press, 2017). She is currently president of European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST). In 2019 she was elected member of the Academia Europaea.
