PROFILE
After training at Harvard (AB), UTokyo (MPH), the Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research (Fulbright fellow) and University of California San Francisco (PhD), Hensch helped to launch the RIKEN Brain Science Institute, initially as Lab Head for Neuronal Circuit Development, then as Group Director for Critical Period Mechanisms Research. He returned to Harvard in 2006 as joint Professor of Neurology and Molecular Cellular Biology. He directs the International Research Center for Neurointelligence (UTIAS), the NIMH Conte Center for Mental Health Research at Harvard, and co-directs the CIFAR Child Brain Development network. Career honors include the US Society for Neuroscience Young Investigator Award, the Tsukahara Prize, NIH Director's Pioneer Award and Sackler Prize. Hensch has served on various editorial boards and is currently Chief Editor of Frontiers in Neural Circuits.
