AKO Tomoko

AKO Tomoko is Professor at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo. Her research interests include empowerment of socially vulnerable people such as migrants, women, elderly people, children, and ethnic and sexual minorities, with a particular focus on China. Recently, she has been involved in research projects on civil society and social media, and action research of business and human rights in China and Hong Kong. She has also paid attention to the movements of Chinese people, who have left their hometowns or have traveled to countries due to political persecution, to develop public spaces both within and beyond China.
